DINIS
"DINIS is used exten-sively throughout EDP’s organisation to maximise the utilisation of our electricity network and deliver the necessary productivity benefits de-manded by an increa-singly competitive mar-ket." Electricidade de Portugal
| | Brief Profile DINIS is a fully integrated data capture and electrical network analysis workstation package which operates either as a stand alone system integrated to other applications. DINIS can display a geographic representation of entire networks, color coded by voltage, capacity or phase and displayed simultaneously in geographic or schematic form. Networks covering 37 km sqr (including map backgrounds), 3000 lines and nodes, 600 transformers are typical model sizes for DINIS. By using the strength of the DINIS analysis software integrated with the control room systems, which monitor and control what is happening on the network 24hr/day, electrical engineers can begin to model and understand how the network actually behaves under real operating conditions. With this information they will then be able to determine load demands based on day/ night/ summer/ winter conditions, begin to model the network to predict faults, and perform network reliability analysis. DINIS can provide fast answers to 'what-if' questions for managing overloads and underloads, thereby minimizing losses and helping to optimize investment plans. All these capabilities will save ЈMs in operational efficiencies as well as improve electricity supply reliability to millions of customers. Main system features: | Comprehensive load flow and fault analysis of radial and interconnected networks | | Network switching and select circuit facilities | | Mixed 3, 2, single phase and SWER line analysis | | Fully detailed transformer modeling of winding losses, tap changes including combinations of wye/delta/tertiary windings | | General modeling capability including twin shaft gas turbines and multi-cylinder steam turbines | | Automatic allocation of loadings based on total primary feeder input current | | Optional non-linear (polynomial) loads | | Summary calculations on minimum two phase unbalanced allocation | | Summary reliability calculations | | Data exchange with other databases via ASCII, NTF or customized interface | | Automatic positioning and displays of full analysis results including amps, volts, ohms (actual or per unit), kW, kVAR, pf, phase or sequence with limit values to reduce congestion | | Automatic calculation and insertion of effective source impedance | | Fault analysis to IEEE and ANSI standards | | Cable resistance (heating) effec |
Key benefits of using DINIS are derived from the following: | Immediate savings on network loss reductions | | Increased profit from reduced capital expenditure | | Quicker and more accurate decisions | | Improved customer service through faster planning | | Deferred capital investment | | Increased staff productivity | | Effective use of existing assets | | Integration with other corporate systems |
Savings directly attributable to the use of DINIS in electricity distribution companies are being realized year on year by over 30 companies throughout Europe (including most of the Regional Electricity Companies in the UK), North America, Australia and Asia. >> market position >> profile >> benefits >> features >> case study
