Description
The purpose of the system is to manage information in gas selling processes.
The system provides information about gas selling process for the operational analysis. The system is a part of the overall branch-wide database.
The system is intended for use at
- Headquarters - to plan, track and control the gas sales and supplies processes in the context of different regions
- Regional companies - in planning, tracking and controlling of their own gas sale and supply processes.
The system provides
- Gas sale and supply process data acquisition and maintenance
- Integration of data coming from heterogeneous sources into a unified information environment
- Data aggregation and loading into the data warehouse
- Provision of logically consistent data from the distributed members of the organizational framework to the top management to support efficient decision making
The segment is a distributed information system consisting of
- The central node - the Headquarters - the 1st level
- The node of the gas selling companies - the 2nd level
- The node of the regional gas selling companies - the 3rd level
- The node of the gas-distributing organizations - the 4th level
The nodes consist of
- an intermediate OLTP database
- a data warehouse
- a data extraction, preparation and transfer system (EPTS)
Intermediate OLTP database is a database needed to maintain the EPTS system. It serves as a source for the data being loaded into the data warehouse.
Data warehouse is a consistent and integrated data source for the decision support systems and other information systems of the Headquarters.
Every node of the segment exchanges the data with the adjacent nodes of the system, adjacent segments and companies’ OLTP databases. The data exchange is accomplished in XML format.

Based on VisiData platform, MS SQL Server 7.0, SQL, MS OLAP Services, Delphi 5.0, Oracle 8i, Oracle Express series of products (Server, Objects, Relation Access Manager, Analyzer, WEB Agent), Warehouse Builder.
