Fast StartTo start Spectra Heap, do the following:
Enter your name and password after the program start. If User Name is new, log on to Spectra Heap as administrator. Name: Admin, password: < an empty line >
Press "Enter" to get access in the menu "Service", choose the item "Register a New User" (Fig. 8).

Then enter the name and the password.
Create a group of elements to work with. Choose in the menu "File" the item "Groups" or press the button "Groups of Elements " (Fig. 11) on the toolbar.

In a new window (Fig. 15) create a new group. For this purpose press the button " New group" and enter the name of the group or leave it by default. As soon as the group is created, the buttons of elements in the periodic system are accessible. Pressing the appropriate buttons, choose the elements you are interested in. When the choice is completed, press the button "OK".

After the group of elements is created, press the button " New filter " (Fig. 11) , or choose in the menu "File" the item "Create a Filter". Hence, the window of a new filter will be opened (Fig. 17). Its parameters by default cover the whole range of values for the accessible fields.

After the window of a new filter is opened, choose the table to work with. For the functions and the differences of the tables "By Elements " and "By Waves Lengths" refer to the appropriate paragraphs of the given User Manual.
If the meanings by default suit you, press the button "Apply the Filter" (Fig. 11) in the fields of search parameters input (minimal and maximal wave length, ionization, intensity, etc.). Thus, the search of all elements included in the group will be held. The search results are displayed in "Table of Results" and in the graphic window (Fig. 26). The number of the found lines is displayed in the status in the right lower corner of Spectra Heap.

If required, the amount of the found lines can be limited by entering the necessary parameters in the fields of search parameters While changing any characteristic in these fields, the table of results and the graphic window are inaccessible till you press the button "Apply a Filter" or choose in the menu "Service" the item "Apply a Filter ".
You can save the search parameters (the filter) for further use. To do that, press the button "Save a Filter" (Fig. 11) or use the menu "File", the item " Save a Filter" or "Save As", and enter the name of the filter.
To apply the filter in your further work, press the button "Open a Filter" (Fig. 11) on the toolbar and choose the necessary group of elements (if there are several of them) and one of the filters belonging to this group (if there are several of them).
